Lecturers and Teaching Assistants
Prof. Ofer Aharony, Prof. Micha Berkooz
Course Schedule and Location
Thursday, 14:15 - 15:00, Weissman, Seminar Rm A
Field of Study, Course Type and Credit Points
Physical Sciences: Seminar; Elective; Regular; 1.00 points
Chemical Sciences: Lecture; Elective; Regular; 1.00 points
The course will be taught on-line via Zoom.
Students who are interested in participating in the seminar should contact one of the coordinators - Ofer Aharony, Micha Berkooz before the end of the first week of the semester.
Students who are interested in attending should contact Ofer Aharony or Micha Berkooz.
Attendance and participation
Required in at least 80% of the lectures
Estimated Weekly Independent Workload (in hours)
Every student will be assigned one topic from a selection of topics offered in the beginning of the semester. The student will have to master the topic and give a seminar about it. The selection will be from a wide array of seminal papers in quantum field theory (both in the context of high energy theory and condensed matter theory) and classical and quantum gravity. Generally each student is expected to give one talk every semester, and to attend all other talks.
Upon successful completion of this course students should be able to:
- Read and understand modern research papers.
- Demonstrate knowledge of advanced topics that are useful for current research but are not covered in the courses that are given at the Weizmann Institute.
- Summarise a subject and give a seminar about it.
Will be given at the beginning of the semester.
