Comments

Following introductory lectures, in each week we will run a 2-hour lecture by leading medical oncologists. Each lecture will introduce one type of cancer, including epidemiology, subtypes, diagnosis and prognosis, mutations and new treatments, including immunotherapy and targeted drugs.

Syllabus

The course will be delivered by medical oncologists who will share their knowledge and clinical experience. The first lectures will be devoted to basic terms, the hallmarks of cancer and cancer pathology, as well as cancer imaging. Next, we will cover the area of clinical trials: design, terminology, ethical aspects and evaluation of the results. The majority of lectures will be devoted to individual types of cancer, such as brain tumors and breast cancer. Each lecturer will provide the main disease facts such as histological and molecular subtypes, epidemiology and diagnosis. In addition, each presentation will address the current treatments and the burning open questions of relevant research.

Learning Outcomes

The students will be exposed to the clinical side of cancer research and decision making by clinicians. Along with this, the students will become familiar with the most prevalent types of cancer and the currently open questions of each disease. We will focus on epidemiology, molecular mechanisms and experimental therapeutics.
