Syllabus
Advances in next generation sequencing techniques revolutionized the research into regulatory elements in the genome. These technical advances along with novel computational approaches change our perspective of how regulatory information is encoded in the genome and how it may be harnessed in the future for personalized medicine. Here we will discuss recent hallmark studies in regulatory genomics, focusing on gene regulation and epigenomics and molecular mechanisms controlling genome function.
Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this course students should be able to:
- Demonstrate familiarity with and understanding of insights on the state of the art in regulatory genomics and personalized medicine, Including: molecular mechanisms, biological relevance and update on novel genomic techniques, including single cell genomics.
- Discuss recent advances in this exciting field.
Reading List
Participants are expected to read general literature on genomics, epigenomics and evolution (a list of recommended papers will be given before the course). Important background and references for each seminar will be distributed one week in advance by the respective presenter.
