Syllabus
In this course we explore mathematical problem solving from practical, theoretical and pedagogical perspectives. During the course, we will engage with selected problem from various areas in mathematics, inquire into and reflect on our problem solving experiences, and develop a shared discourse for explaining, teaching and learning problem solving in mathematics.
Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of the course students will be able to demonstrate various problem solving heuristics and technics in the context of unfamiliar mathematical problems, and explain their or their students' problem solving processes, identifying factors that contribute to success or failure.
