Syllabus
Students will learn the theoretical basis as well as practical aspects of the key tools in Bioinformatics. They will have hands-on experience utilizing these tools and will become familiar with the type of experimental questions that can be addressed by the various bioinformatics tool. In addition, using the knowledge obtained during the course, each student will generate a web page describing and demonstrating the biological, bioinformatics, and structural features of a protein of choice relevant for biology high-school students. These pages will create a free protein database in Hebrew and Arabic aim specifically at biology and biotechnology high-school students
Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of the course students will be able to:
- Demonstrate proficiency in the theoretical basis as well as practical aspects of the key tools in Bioinformatics.
- Utilize the key tools in bioinformatics.
- Cope with experimental questions that can be addressed by the various bioinformatics tools.
- Describe and demonstrate the biological, bioinformatics, and structural features of a protein relevant for biology high-school students.
