The course will begin with 2 introductory lectures. From then on, it will be based on selected papers that cover various aspects of Intracellular trafficking. The course focuses on two topics:
1. Scientific: Major advances in the field of Intracellular trafficking.
2. Technical: The use of microscopy methods such as Fluorescence Recovery After Photobleaching. FRET. Combining live cell analysis with advanced quantitative approaches (Kinetic modeling and simulation) Super-resolution microscopy, etc.
Participants are required to read the papers in advance to promote interactive high-level discussions during the lectures.
A partial list of titles covered:
Quantitative analysis of Secretory transport
The whereabouts of the Golgi apparatus during mitosis
Unboxing the Golgi using microscopy-based kinetic analysis tools
Mechanisms of cargo protein selection, concentration, and export from the ER
From photoactivated fluorescent protein to super-resolution microscopy (A zoom recording of Dr. George H. Patterson)
Unboxing the Golgi
Viral cell biology: HCV and lipid droplets
