Syllabus

The major intent of the course is to provide basic tool to select protein/complexes suitable to be targeted by small molecules. The basic principle of virtual screening, lead selection and optimization in the context of medicinal chemistry will be visited. Chosen examples will be synthesis and evaluated as time permit. Students will become familiar with the leading platform and methodologies for the generation, screening and evaluating large cohort of virtual libraries.

Learning Outcomes

Upon successful completion of the course the students will be able to:

Choose “promising” protein targets.

Define suitable binding pockets for small molecules binding

Search the virtual space for candidates

Dock and rank candidate molecules

Tools to optimize lead candidate

Synthesis related considerations

From the drawing board to the chemical hood

Reading List

Will be distributed on the first meeting
