Syllabus

In this course, we explore mathematical problem solving from practical, theoretical, and pedagogical perspectives. During the course, we will engage with the selected problems from various areas in mathematics, inquire into and reflect on our problem-solving experiences, and develop a shared discourse for explaining, teaching, and learning to problem-solve in mathematics.

Learning Outcomes

Upon successful completion of the course, students will be able to demonstrate various problem-solving heuristics and technics in the context of unfamiliar mathematical problems, and explain their or their students' problem-solving processes, identifying factors that contribute to success or failure.
