Syllabus

This seminar will follow adult tissue stem cells and their role in maintaining tissue homeostasis.

Each week we will focus on specific tissues - mainly the gut, lung, and skin, in which adult stem cells are well studied.

Week 1: introduction of the course by Dr. Moshe Biton and assignment of students to recent stem cell - tissue outcome papers, which will be presented by the students.

Week 2-14: Presentation of two students per week, starting from intestinal stem cells discovery to other tissue stem cells and their role in tissue formation, regeneration, and diseases.

Learning Outcomes

This course will add more layers to our understanding of tissue maintenance and how the tissue stem cells play a role in homeostasis and different diseases such as inflammation and cancer. This course will deal mostly with adult stem cells.
