Syllabus
A workshop-style course on scientific writing for PhD students that area
ready to transform their research projects to scientific journal articles. Participants should have
a research project that is advanced enough to be written up. Sessions will include a mix of
lectures, discussion, and active writing. Active participation is strongly encouraged. Limited
enrollment.
Learning Outcomes
Students who complete this writing workshop will (1) be able to implement a variety of strategies for improving effective writing behavior, (2) understand the canonical structure of a scientific manuscript, (3) be able to craft a scientific story and understand how to develop the pieces of a scientific manuscript to support their story, (4) understand the publication process for scientific manuscripts.
