Syllabus

Students will learn the theoretical basis as well as practical aspects of the key tools in Bioinformatics. They will have hands-on experience utilizing these tools and will become familiar with the type of experimental questions that can be addressed by the various bioinformatics tool. In addition, using the knowledge obtained during the course, each student will generate an hand-on assignment utilizing several bioinformatic tools aiming to explore a protein of choice relevant for biology high-school students.

Learning Outcomes

Upon successful completion of the course students will be able to:

  1. Demonstrate proficiency in the theoretical basis as well as practical aspects of the key tools in Bioinformatics.
  2. Utilize the key tools in bioinformatics.
  3. Cope with experimental questions that can be addressed by the various bioinformatics tools.
  4. Describe and demonstrate the biological and bioinformatics features of a protein relevant for biology high-school students.
