Syllabus

This will be a introductory course to geometric group theory.
We aim to cover:
Actions on Trees
Basic notions related to quasi-isometries
Hyperbolic Groups
some generalizations (Automatic/CAT(0) groups/Relative Hyperbolicity)
Small-Cancellation Theory.
 

Learning Outcomes

The goal of the course will be to bring students to a level of familiarity with the basic objects in geometric gorup theory.
