Syllabus

Every student will be assigned one topic from a selection of topics offered in the beginning of the semester. The student will have to master the topic and give a seminar about it. The selection will be from a wide array of seminal papers in quantum field theory (both in the context of high energy theory and condensed matter theory) and classical and quantum gravity. Generally each student is expected to give one talk every semester, and to attend all other talks.

Learning Outcomes

Upon successful completion of this course students should be able to:

  1. Read and understand modern research papers.
  2. Demonstrate knowledge of advanced topics that are useful for current research but are not covered in the courses that are given at Weizmann.
  3. Summarize a subject and give a seminar about it.

Reading List

Will be given in the beginning of the semester
