Syllabus

The reading course will cover the following topics through significant papers that will be determined in the future.

- Past ocean temperature reconstruction (Mg/Ca in foraminifera, alkenones)

- Oxygen isotopes in foraminifera

- Sea level changes

- 87Sr/86Sr reconstruction in the ocean and its environmental significance

- Reconstruction of past ocean circulation (Nd isotopes and Carbon isotopes)

- Major debates in paleoceanography
