Syllabus

The course will discuss some advanced classical and quantum aspects of gravity. A tentative list of topics includes:

1. Short review of General Relativity,

2. Supergravities,
3. Classical black holes and black branes,
4. Quantum Fields in curved spacetime,
5. Thermodynamics of black holes,

6. AdS/CFT and Holography

A subset of:

7. SUSY BH state precision counting
8. Microstates description of black holes in string theory
9. The RT formula,

Learning Outcomes

Upon completion of the course, the students will be familiar with black holes and their thermodynamics properties. The student will be familiar with the AdS/CFT correspondence and BH in this context.
