Syllabus

  1. Principles of operation of Flow and Image Cytometers: the flow systems, sample excitation and illumination, sample detectors.
  2. Applications of Flow and Image Cytometry: measurement of multiple color staining, DNA measurements, Nuclear - cytoplasm translocations.
  3. Cell Sorting and analysis of yield and purity.
  4. Preparation of samples.
  5. Data analysis.

Learning Outcomes

Upon successful completion of this course students should be able to:

  1. Discuss the principles and some applications of Flow and Image Cytometry.
  2. Run samples on Flow and Image Cytometers.
  3. Analyze samples with multi-color staining.
  4. Sort multi-color cell populations to test tubes.
  5. Perform cell cycle analysis.
