Syllabus

This course will mostly deal with the electronic properties of condensed matter systems. Subjects will include:

  1. The Drude model
  2. Quantum corrections to the Drude model
  3. Electron bands 
  4. The electron phonon interaction
  5. Magneto-transport, Shubnikov de-Haas oscillations in 2D and 3D
  6. Linear response theory – Kubo formula, KKR relations, FD theorem, thermal transport
  7. Fermi liquid theory
  8. Experimental probes of electronic systems
